Trapezius Botox®, also known as “Trap Tox” injections in the trapezius muscles, can reduce neck and shoulder tension. As a side effect, Trapezius Botox can possibly produce the appearance of a more elongated neck.

What Is the Trapezius Muscle?

The trapezius muscle is a large, triangular muscle extending from the skull’s base down to the middle of the back and across the shoulders. Our trapezius muscles are often overused and become inflamed and enlarged. When the trapezius muscle becomes tense and tight, it can lead to a range of uncomfortable symptoms. These may include headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, and restricted range of motion.

Common Causes of Trapezius Muscle Pain

There are several common causes of tension in the trapezius muscle. One of the primary culprits is stress. When we experience stress, our muscles tend to tighten, and the trapezius muscle is no exception. Long hours spent hunched over a desk, poor posture, and repetitive movements (i.e. fitness routines) can lead to trapezius muscle stress. Additionally, emotional tension stress can manifest physically in the trapezius muscle, leading to chronic tightness and discomfort. Trapezius Botox may help your quality of life by relieving tension and promoting relaxation.

Benefits of Trapezius Botox Treatment

Trapezius Botox relaxes the trapezius muscles to reduce pain and stiffness in your neck and shoulders. In addition to pain relief, “Trap Tox” also helps improve range of motion. Your posture may also improve by alleviating excessive muscle contraction of your trapezius muscles.

Depending on the dosing and technique, Trapezius Botox can have an added benefit: a more slender appearance of your neck and shoulders, aka Barbie Botox.

Botox® has been clinically proven to reduce muscle thickness. Other areas for Botox slimming include Masseter Botox and Calf Botox.

How Does Trap Tox Work?

Trapezius Botox works by temporarily relaxing the trapezius muscles. Botox®, or botulinum toxin, is a neurotoxic protein that is injected into the muscle to block the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contraction. Botox effectively relaxes the trapezius muscle by inhibiting muscle contractions to help reduce tension and alleviate associated symptoms such as neck pain, shoulder pain, and headaches.

Trapezius Botox® is a highly specialized neurotoxin treatment. Dr. Sri Sullivan, our physician, will perform your traptox treatment skillfully and safely.

What to Expect at Your Trapezius Botox Session

After a thorough consultation and examination, Dr. Sri will perform your Botox treatment. The technique and depth of injections are customized to you. The procedure takes less than 5 minutes. The most often asked question is: How many units of Botox for trapezius? On average, 50 units of Botox are strategically injected into the left and right trapezius muscles at 3-5 injection points. Most patients tolerate the injections well and experience only mild discomfort, if any.

Aftercare: What Should I Avoid After Trapezius Botox?

It’s important to follow Dr. Sri’s aftercare tips to ensure optimal results and minimize the risk of complications. Here are some guidelines after Trap Tox. For the first 24-48 hours:

– Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area.

– Refrain from strenuous exercise or heavy lifting.

– Avoid exposure to excessive heat, such as saunas or hot tubs.

– Avoid alcohol consumption and blood thinning products for 24 hours.

How Long Does It Take for Trapezius Botox to Work?

Many patients start to notice changes after a week. Trap Tox results typically peak at 4-6 weeks and last approximately 4 months.

Trapezius Botox Maintenance

Maintenance Trapezius Botox treatments are recommended every 4-6 months for continued muscle relief and tension.
