Kybella® Treatment
If you’re feeling subconscious about the fat under your chin (submental fullness), Kybella treatment may be a good option for you. Dr. Sri Sullivan, MD, is an expert in administering the Kybella treatment. Her experience has helped many people achieve their aesthetic goals around their chin area. Kybella is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that is used to reduce the appearance of submental fullness, often referred to as a “double chin.”
By reducing the “double chin”, the Kybella treatment can possibly help your face and/or neck appear slimmer.
What Is in Kybella®
Kybella is an FDA-approved medication. It is an injectable treatment that contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. The deoxycholic acid works by destroying fat cells in the treated area, and over time, your body naturally eliminates them.
Kybella®: What to Expect
A Kybella treatment begins with a consultation with Dr. Sri. She helps establish your goals for the procedure and gives insight into how Kybella works. Chicago Aesthetics Club is one of the best Chicago Kybella treatment centers. Your initial consultation will determine whether you are suitable for a Kybella treatment. The best Kybella results are in those individuals with moderate to severe submental fullness. Please note that Kybella will not help the appearance of loose skin under the chin.
Kybella injections are typically administered in a series of treatments. The number of sessions required depends on various factors, including the amount of fat present and your desired results.
After numbing the area, multiple injection sites are marked. Dr. Sri will use ultrafine medical-grade needles to administer the Kybella injections. You may experience a slight burning feeling as the Kybella deoxycholic acid works gently to kill the fat cells, which are metabolized over the following weeks. The entire procedure usually takes around 15 to 20 minutes.
Kybella® Results
Kybella treatments are sought after to help reduce moderate to severe submental fat. The full effects of your Kybella treatment become visible gradually as your body eliminates the destroyed fat cells. Multiple sessions are almost always needed to reach optimal results to see a reduced “double chin.”
At Chicago Aesthetics Club, we recommended repeat treatments no sooner than 6 weeks apart to allow the body to process the treated fat cells. You will typically start noticing improvements in the treated area within a few weeks after each session. The final results become more apparent as the body clears the targeted fat cells away.
Kybella® Side Effects and Recovery
The most common side effects include swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of firmness in the treatment area. As with any medication, there can be a risk of minor or major side effects. Precautions are taken to reduce the risk of Kybella complications. The risks and benefits of your Kybella treatment will be reviewed at your visit.
Please note: swelling is the most common side effect of Kybella treatment. It occurs due to the injection itself and the body’s immune response to the medication. Swelling can be moderate to severe and most often lasts a few weeks. Icing and pressure are important during recovery.
It’s recommended to avoid strenuous exercise and certain medications that can increase bleeding risks for a few days after the treatment.
Dr. Sri will review the Kybella aftercare instructions with you thoroughly.
Benefits of Kybella® Treatment
- Non-surgical: The Kybella treatment is a non-surgical alternative to chin liposuction or neck lift procedures. It does not require incisions or anesthesia, making it a less invasive option for those who prefer to avoid surgery.
- Fat reduction: Kybella injections specifically target and destroy fat cells beneath the chin. By injecting deoxycholic acid, Kybella breaks down the fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body’s metabolic processes. This can help improve the definition of the chin and the jawline.
- Facial profile: By reducing excess fat, Kybella treatments can possibly enhance the overall harmony of the facial profile.
- Customizable treatment: At Chicago Aesthetics Club, each Kybella treatment protocol is tailored to meet your specific needs and desired outcome.
- Permanent destruction of fat cells: Once the fat cells are destroyed, they cannot store or accumulate fat again. This means that the results achieved with Kybella treatment are long-lasting. A healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise can help you maintain the results over time.
- Convenience: Kybella treatment is performed in our office. Each session typically takes only 15 to 20 minutes. This is a relatively quick and efficient way to address submental fullness.
- Confidence: Reduced submental fullness and a slimmer look can help bring confidence.
