Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) and Botox® (onabotulinumtoxinA) work in similar ways to temporarily reduce wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles. Most commonly treated areas are Botox vs Dysport for glabellar lines, aka frown lines. While they share a common main ingredient, levels of trace proteins vary between the two, potentially making one treatment more effective than the other for you. Here are some commonly asked questions:

Which Looks More Natural Botox or Dysport?

Botox and Dysport before and after depend on various factors, including the specific treatment area, your unique facial anatomy and your muscle expressions. Most importantly, Dr. Sri customizes your dose and uses techniques to bring the most natural looking results for you.

Is Dysport More Painful than Botox?

When it comes to pain, the experience can vary from person to person and depends on factors such as your pain tolerance, the type of needle used and the particular Dysport or Botox areas being treated.

In general, some people may find Dysport to be slightly less painful than Botox due to its smaller molecular size, however this difference in pain perception is often subjective and not universally experienced by everyone. It’s important to note that any discomfort experienced during your Botox injections (or Dysport injections) is typically brief and well-tolerated.

Is Dysport Better than Botox?

When considering Dysport vs Botox, it ultimately comes down to your personal preference and how your body responds. Botox pros and cons are comparable to those of Dysport. Generally, both treatments offer similar levels of effectiveness, but one may yield better results for you specifically.

Which is Safer Botox or Dysport?

Both Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved medications and are considered safe . After an extensive consultation, including a review of your medical history, allergies and sensitivities,  Dr Sri will provide the safest recommendations for you.

Most common side effects for both Dysport and Botox treatments are temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or pain at the injection sites. Absolute contraindications include pregnancy, breastfeeding, muscle disorders and certain milk allergies. Also for both Botox Dysport, it’s important to follow the post-treatment instructions to minimize the risk of complications and ensure optimal results.

Which Lasts Longer Botox or Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators used to temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles. In terms of duration, there is a general consensus that Dysport tends to have a slightly quicker onset of action compared to Botox. Some people report seeing results from Dysport within 2-3 days, whereas Botox may take 3-5 days for noticeable effects. Full effect is observed for both medications after two weeks.

Dysport or Botox which lasts longer? Results of both medications typically last around 3 months on average. Factors such as your metabolism, dosage, and the specific treatment area can influence the duration of your results.

What is More Expensive Botox or Dysport?

Dysport cost may be slightly less expensive than Botox cost per unit, but it’s important to note that Dysport units are not directly equivalent to Botox units. At Chicago Aesthetics Club, Dysport vs Botox price per area are similar as both medications provide equally excellent results.

How Many Units of Dysport is Comparable to Botox?

Dysport and Botox have slightly different formulations and potencies. Exact conversion can vary depending on factors like your unique physiology and the specific area being treated. When it comes to dosing, there is an approximate conversion between Dysport units and Botox units. These medications are not exactly equivalent to one another. The number of Botox units per area is lower than that of Dysport. It typically takes 2.5 units of Dysport to achieve the same effect as 1 unit of Botox.

Is it Good to Switch Between Botox and Dysport?

Maintaining consistency with either Botox or Dysport is most important for predictable results. If you find that you are happy with the results of one product, there may not be a compelling reason to switch.

Note: you may be advised to transition to the other if your ongoing treatments appear to be losing effectiveness or if the duration of results has shifted over time.

Dr. Sri will help determine if switching is a safe option for you. Dosing is adjusted accordingly. It is important to note that you may find that you prefer Botox results over Dysport or vice versa.

Does Botox need Maintenance? Or Dysport?

Both Botox injections and Dysport diminish wrinkles by temporarily reducing muscle contraction. In order to maintain your results, repeat treatments are needed. Botox how often? Maintenance treatments are recommended every 3 months and the same for Dysport. Staying consistent with regular sessions will reduce the appearance of your wrinkles.
